Islamic University Appoints New Directors to Four Administrative Posts
New directors have been appointed to four important administrative posts at Islamic University (IU). The appointments were announced on Monday (October 19) through four separate office orders signed by the university's acting registrar, Professor Dr Atiqur Rahman.
Under the new appointments, Professor Dr Zahidul Islam of the Information and Communication Technology department has been given responsibility as director of the university's ICT Cell.
Professor Dr Manjur Rahman of the Bangla department has been appointed director of the Teacher-Student Cultural Centre (TSCC). The TSCC plays an important role in running cultural and co-curricular activities at the university.
Professor Dr Gazi Mohammad Mahbub Murshid of the Bangla department has been appointed press administrator. He will oversee the university's publication and press-related work.
Professor Dr Ruhul Amin Bhuiyan of the Electrical and Electronic Engineering department has been appointed director of the Central Lab. He will be responsible for running the central laboratory's activities.
The office order said that as the tenure of Professor Dr Md Shahjahan Ali of the Electrical and Electronic Engineering department as ICT Cell director ends on October 21, Professor Dr Zahidul Islam has been appointed in his place.
As the tenure of Professor Dr Zakir Hossain of the Accounting and Information Systems department as TSCC director ended on October 18, Professor Dr Manjur Rahman of the Bangla department has been given the responsibility in his place.
The tenure of Professor Dr A K M Mofizul Islam of the Arabic Language and Literature department as press administrator will end on October 20; the vice-chancellor has appointed Professor Dr Gazi Md Mahbub Morshed of the Bangla department in his place, the order mentioned.
This simultaneous reshuffle in four administrative posts is being seen as an effort to maintain continuity in the university's day-to-day administrative work. With successors appointed before or exactly at the end of tenures, no post is falling vacant.
Teachers and students hope that under the new directors, ICT services, cultural activities, publications and laboratory services will become more dynamic. Expectations are particularly high about the ICT Cell's role in expanding digital services.
The four newly appointed professors will serve according to their respective tenures. The formal handover of responsibilities is expected to be completed by the university administration.
