Woman Shot and Hacked to Death in Khulna's Jinnapara, Police Point to Drug-Related Dispute
A woman named Khushi, 25, has been shot and hacked to death by attackers in the Jinnapara area under Lobonchora Police Station in Khulna city. The incident took place at around 6:45pm on Thursday, October 22, in lane number seven of Jinnapara Bou Bazar.
Khushi was the wife of Suman Sardar, a resident of the area. After the attack, local people rescued her and took her to Khulna Medical College Hospital, where the doctor on duty declared her dead.
Lobonchora Police Station Officer-in-Charge Syed Mosharef Hossain said the attackers shot and hacked Khushi on a road in Jinnapara following a drug-related dispute. She was later taken to hospital, where doctors declared her dead.
The OC also said the victim's husband, Suman Sardar, is known as 'Blade Babu'. He said there are allegations of drug involvement against members of his family.
Police were sent to the scene immediately after the incident, according to the police station. The evening killing spread tension and fear in the neighbourhood.
OC Syed Mosharef Hossain said an investigation is under way to identify who was involved in the killing. Police say efforts are continuing to identify those responsible through the investigation.
The killing of a woman with gunfire and sharp weapons on a public road in the evening has raised fresh questions about law and order in the area. Local residents have demanded a proper investigation and the arrest of those involved.
