Trump Hints at Another 'Little Epic Fury' Strike on Iran; Tehran Warns Response Will Be Harsher
US President Donald Trump has hinted at launching a fresh strike on Iran. His remarks, made at a rally in Florida, have raised fears of renewed tension in the Middle East.
Speaking at the Florida rally on Friday (23 October), the US president said: “We might do another little Epic Fury.” That single sentence points to the possibility of a new military move against Iran.
Notably, the war the United States began against Iran on 28 February was named ‘Operation Epic Fury’. Referring to that war, Trump has now spoken of “another little Epic Fury.”
Trump's remarks do not make clear exactly when, or what kind of strike, he has in mind. But observers say there is little room to take such a public hint from a sitting president lightly.
In the same speech, Trump also spoke of a larger geopolitical plan. He hinted that after settling the war with Iran, attention would turn to Cuba.
Trump said: “After we come back from Iran, we will look at Cuba. Then we will send Secretary of State Marco Rubio to finalise a deal with Cuba.” In other words, after the Iran chapter, Washington's next focus will be Cuba, and Rubio will be tasked with finalising that deal.
A strong reaction has also come from Iran following Trump's comments. Tehran has threatened that if the Americans strike again, their response will be harsher than last time.
The experience of the February war is still fresh. Relations between the two countries have remained extremely bitter since that conflict, and any move toward a new strike could push the region toward a major confrontation once again.
While Trump's ‘little Epic Fury’ remark could be read as rally rhetoric, Iran's counter-warning underlines the seriousness of the situation. The war of words between the two sides is narrowing the path to a diplomatic solution.
The question now is whether the Trump administration is truly preparing a new strike on Iran, and how far Tehran can carry out its warning in practice. In the coming days, the whole region will be watching the moves of Washington and Tehran.
