Youth Allegedly Hacked to Death After Being Called to a House in Ullapara, One Detained
A young man named Akram Sarkar, 22, has allegedly been hacked to death after being called to a house in Ullapara, Sirajganj. Police have detained a youth named Maruf Bin Habib, 30, in connection with the incident.
The incident took place on Friday evening, 23 October, at Goyhatta Konagati village in the upazila. The evening incident has caused a stir in the area.
The deceased Akram was the son of Rahim Sarkar of Uttarpara neighbourhood in the same village. The detained Maruf is also a resident of the same village and the son of Nur Mohammad — meaning both the deceased and the detainee are from the same village.
According to locals, Maruf called Akram to his own house on Friday evening. It is alleged that Akram was hacked to death there with a sharp weapon.
Locals said the body was left in the courtyard of the house after the killing. Neighbours learned of the matter one to two hours after the incident.
Once the neighbours found out, they informed the police. On receiving the news, police went to the scene and recovered Akram's body.
Police detained Maruf Bin Habib at the scene and took him to the police station. He is currently in police custody.
Sub-Inspector Abidul Rahman of Ullapara Model Police Station confirmed the information. He said the detained Maruf has been kept in police custody at the station.
The body of the deceased has been sent to a hospital morgue for an autopsy. The autopsy report will give a clearer picture of the nature of the killing.
Police said preparations are under way to file a case over the incident. Once filed, the details of the allegation will be examined through investigation.
However, why Akram was killed has not yet been confirmed. Police are investigating to find the motive behind the murder.
Once the investigation uncovers the motive and the case proceeds, it is hoped the full picture of this brutal incident will come to light.
