Ric Flair Posts Eyepatch Selfie After Hospital Fall: 'I Will Be Okay'
Wrestling legend Ric Flair was in good spirits on Saturday, posting a selfie wearing an eyepatch a day after a fall forced him to land in the hospital, and assuring fans that he will be okay.
Flair was reportedly at a Wagamama in Tampa when he walked outside and fell, injuring his face and possibly suffering a concussion.
Flair cut his eye in the fall and was loaded into an ambulance. On Saturday, he posted a selfie wearing an eyepatch.
In that post, Flair thanked everyone for the messages and prayers, saying he will get back to each person individually as he gets stronger. He also thanked the Tampa General Hospital staff and doctors who put up with him until 4:30 in the morning, saying he appreciates everything they did for him.
He added that he is focused on his healing and recovery right now, and his reassurance was plain: 'I Will Be Okay!'
The fall came just hours after Flair had announced that he would be unable to attend a scheduled appearance in Seattle due to a blood clot in his leg.
In that announcement on X, Flair said his doctors have limited his travel to three to four hours. Seattle falls outside that range, and as disappointed as he was, he had to put his health and recovery first.
Blood clots, he said, are extremely serious and can be life-threatening. Pointing to the recent complications involving blood clots in Jalen Hurts' lungs, he said this is not something to take lightly, and that he must follow medical advice.
Flair said he is slated to have surgery on the affected vein, which his doctors expect will allow him to be cleared for more travel afterward.
He also said the decision to cancel the appearance was not made lightly. Apologizing for the inconvenience and disappointment, he expressed gratitude for fans' patience, understanding and continued support, and said he looks forward to getting healthy and seeing everyone down the road.
Flair, 77, has battled health and alcohol issues over the years, according to the report.
He has been in and out of wrestling for the last few years. His so-called 'Last Match' took place in 2022 — a tag-team match with his then-son-in-law Andrade against Jeff Jarrett and Jay Lethal. He later revealed he passed out twice during that match.
In 2023 he made his All Elite Wrestling debut and was briefly part of Sting's final professional match. In his career he was an eight-time World Championship Wrestling world heavyweight champion, a nine-time National Wrestling Alliance world heavyweight champion and a two-time WWE champion; WWE inducted him into its Hall of Fame in 2008 as a singles wrestler and in 2012 as a member of the Four Horsemen.
For now, fans will be watching for news of his vein surgery and full recovery — and by Flair's own account, his focus is entirely on healing.
