The two arrested men are Moshiul Azam and Shanto Islam. Police said they were detained on Saturday (24 October) while a checkpoint was operating in Mirpur.

A foreign-made pistol, one magazine and two rounds of live ammunition were recovered from them. The motorcycle they had with them at the time of the arrest was also taken into police custody.

They were stopped during searches of vehicles and passengers at the checkpoint. After the illegal firearm was found, they were shown arrested.
