New Domestic T20 Tournament D Three Trophy Starts December 15, Final in Barishal on December 31
The schedule for a new tournament in domestic cricket has been released. The D Three Trophy T20 competition gets under way on December 15, with Acme facing Fortune in the opening match at the Kabi Jibanananda Das Stadium in Barishal.
The final of the tournament will be held on December 31. January 1, 2027 has been kept as a reserve day for the final, so the match can be completed the next day if it is disrupted for any reason.
Matches will be played at two venues. Alongside the Kabi Jibanananda Das Stadium in Barishal, several matches will be held at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, Dhaka.
Six teams are taking part in the tournament — Acme, Fortune, Walton, Seven Rings Cement, Citizens Bank and Blue Star. Each team will face the others in the group stage.
According to the schedule, Walton play Seven Rings Cement in Mirpur at 11am on December 16, while Acme meet Citizens Bank in Barishal at 2:45pm the same day. On December 17, Walton face Blue Star in Mirpur and Fortune take on Citizens Bank in Barishal.
Seven Rings Cement then play Blue Star in Barishal on December 19, Acme meet Walton in Mirpur on December 20, and on December 21 Fortune play Seven Rings Cement in Mirpur while Citizens Bank face Blue Star in Barishal.
On December 22, Acme play Seven Rings Cement in Mirpur and Fortune meet Walton in Barishal; on December 24, Citizens Bank face Seven Rings Cement in Mirpur and Acme play Blue Star in Barishal; and on December 25, Citizens Bank meet Walton in Mirpur and Fortune play Blue Star in Barishal to close the group stage.
The playoff stage begins on December 27. All playoff matches, including the final, will be held in Barishal, making the southern venue the centre of the tournament's decisive contests.
Under the playoff format, the third and fourth placed teams first meet in the Eliminator at 11am. The first and second placed teams then contest the first Qualifier at 3:30pm.
In the second Qualifier, the loser of the first Qualifier will play the winner of the Eliminator at 2:45pm, with the winner advancing to the final.
The final, at 2:45pm in Barishal, will bring together the winner of the first Qualifier and the winner of the second Qualifier, bringing the first D Three Trophy T20 edition to a close.
Running from mid-December to the end of the month, the tournament is a new addition to the domestic cricket calendar, and the six-team event is also being seen as a stage for young cricketers to prove themselves.
