Hindu Sammilan Sangha thanks prime minister for visiting Durga Puja mandaps outside Dhaka

The Bangladesh Hindu Sammilan Sangha has congratulated and thanked Prime Minister Tarique Rahman for visiting various Durga Puja mandaps outside Dhaka and exchanging greetings with followers of the Sanatan faith during the Sharadiya Durga Puja festival.
The organisation was previously known as the Bangladesh Jatiya Hindu Mahajote, according to its statement.
In a statement sent to the media on Tuesday (October 20), Dr Mrityunjoy Kumar Roy, general secretary of the organisation's national central executive committee, expressed respect, congratulations and gratitude to the prime minister.
According to the organisation, during this year's Sharadiya Durga Puja the prime minister visited puja mandaps and temples in various districts of the Rangpur, Rajshahi and Chattogram divisions.
The statement said that during the visits the prime minister exchanged greetings and pleasantries with priests and devotees and provided financial donations for the temples.
The organisation claimed that, for a head of government of the country, going outside Dhaka to visit Durga Puja mandaps is a landmark and unique example.
The statement said the prime minister's step created joy, enthusiasm and a sense of security among followers of the Sanatan faith outside Dhaka and reflects his commitment to the non-communal principle of 'religion is for the individual, the state is for all'.
According to the organisation, the initiative will play an important role in establishing the core spirit of the great Liberation War — equality, human dignity and social justice — and will also help strengthen communal harmony and national unity.
The closing part of the statement expressed the wish that the prime minister's kind attention toward followers of the Sanatan faith and the bond of harmony remain intact in the future, and the Bangladesh Hindu Sammilan Sangha wished Prime Minister Tarique Rahman good health, long life and continued success.
