Jharkhand have alleged that they lost by one run and were knocked out of a women's under-19 tournament in Nagpur, India, because of a scorer's error. The Jharkhand Cricket Association (JCA) has taken the matter to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

According to the JCA's complaint, the incident happened last Tuesday in the match against Uttarakhand. Batting first, Uttarakhand scored 134 for 6. In reply, Jharkhand's innings ended on 133. They were all out off the last ball, lost by one run and went out of the tournament.

The JCA says that at 19.4 overs of Jharkhand's innings, one of their batters was run out while going for a second run. The official scorer, it says, did not record the first run and recorded only the run-out, so that run was not added to the team total.

The JCA complaint also says the person operating the scoreboard at the ground had added the run, and the players had accepted that count. The Jharkhand team believed they needed two runs to win and one run to tie the match.

On the last ball, a Jharkhand batter was run out after completing one run. The run had been added on the ground scoreboard, but it did not appear in the official score, leaving the players surprised at the one-run defeat.

At the Amrutbai Daga College ground in Nagpur, the players also argued with the scorer over the matter, but the scorer stood by his decision. The Jharkhand Cricket Association has now filed a written complaint with the BCCI.
