Pacer Ashiquzzaman, out for two years with injury, returns through D Three T20

Staff Reporter

The long wait of young pacer Ashiquzzaman, who played for Bangladesh at the youth World Cup in 2022, is set to end. The pacer, who has been out of the game for the past two years because of injury, will return through the T20 format of the BCB's new D Three tournament.

After the youth World Cup, Ashiquzzaman also played in two editions of the BPL. It was after that that injury struck his career and took him out of the game.

He first suffered a spine injury. He recovered from that injury, but later picked up an elbow injury. The report says the elbow injury has kept him out of the game for about a year.

Most recently, last February the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) sent him to Qatar for treatment of the injury. There, on the advice of doctors based on test reports, he underwent surgery on the injured elbow.

Rehabilitation began after the surgery. For the past eight months he has been working to make himself fit again.

In this return phase, Citizens Bank picked him up yesterday for 600,000 points. His comeback will come through the T20 format of the D Three tournament.
