Two helicopters collide in mid-air near Oregon airport, NTSB to lead investigation

Two helicopters have collided in mid-air near an airport in the US state of Oregon. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said the incident occurred near McMinnville Municipal Airport.
According to the Yamhill County Sheriff's Office, the collision happened near McMinnville at about 2:14 p.m. local time on Thursday.
The FAA said a Robinson R22 helicopter had a pilot on board, while an Airbus H125 helicopter was carrying two people. The two aircraft collided in mid-air.
In a statement on social media, the sheriff's office said local law enforcement, fire and medical responders were on the scene. It added that it did not have information at this time on the conditions of those aboard either aircraft.
Roads around the crash site are currently closed, the sheriff's office said.
The office said it is in touch with the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), and that both will investigate the incident.
The FAA said the NTSB will lead the investigation. The incident remains a developing story, with authorities expected to provide further updates.
