Electricity supply will remain suspended for nine straight hours in Kaliganj, Gazipur, on Saturday (October 31), from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, for maintenance work on the power lines. The outage will occur on the double circuit of the 4-D and 6-F feeders of the Kaliganj-1 substation under the Kaliganj Zonal Office.

Muhammad Jahangir Alam, Deputy General Manager of the Kaliganj Zonal Office, confirmed the schedule to local media on Friday (October 30) afternoon.

The Deputy General Manager said the maintenance work on the 4-D feeder of the Kaliganj-1 substation will be carried out through a contractor firm. As part of the safety and necessary technical procedures for the work, the double circuit of the 4-D and 6-F feeders will be kept shut down.

As a result, power supply will remain off in parts of Daripara, Shimulia, Nalchata, Pipulia, Bandakhola, Charakhola, Darkabhanga, Punyertek, Arachankhola, Tilertek, Tumlia, Boali, Chuarikhola, Durbati, Nayabazar, Rajnagar, Satanipara, Rangamatia, Joyramver, Bhetur and Bhadartti.

The zonal office said electricity will also remain off in Piprashair and surrounding areas during the same period, meaning residents, businesses and factories in those localities will have to go through Saturday without power.

Authorities said supply could be restored at any time if the maintenance work is completed ahead of schedule, raising the possibility that the lines may be switched back on before 5:00 pm.

People have been warned to keep a safe distance from electrical lines and related installations while the supply remains suspended.

The Kaliganj Zonal Office has sincerely apologised to consumers for the temporary inconvenience.
