'No Rush' on New Iran Strikes, Trump Says in Florida as Rubio Stresses Diplomacy

US President Donald Trump has said he is in no hurry to launch fresh attacks on Iran, arguing that the United States has already nearly destroyed Iran's military strength and nuclear programme. He made the remarks to reporters on Saturday night at his residence in Florida.
Trump claimed the United States had destroyed a large part of Iran's military strength, though action still remained to be taken on one or two targets.
'We have disabled their nuclear capability. There may still be one or two facilities left to deal with, but we can do that in 10 minutes,' he said.
Trump added, 'You may know about Pickaxe Mountain — that also has to be dealt with. We can finish all of this very quickly.'
The Republican president said talks with Iran aimed at ending the war begun in February by the United States and Israel were 'going well, but you know, they are not very reliable.'
Earlier on Saturday, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio had said Trump had not yet made any decision on launching new attacks on Iran and that the United States was keen to keep the path of a diplomatic solution open.
Tehran, for its part, has warned that it would retaliate if it came under attack.
Iran's supreme leader on Saturday warned the United States and Israel against launching fresh attacks, issuing the warning against the backdrop of threats that strikes could resume after important elections in both countries.
