Private Jet Carrying Nine Crashes into Florida Neighbourhood Miles from Mar-a-Lago, Erupting in a Fireball

A private jet carrying nine people crashed into a residential neighbourhood in South Florida on Sunday afternoon (1 November). The aircraft erupted into a massive fireball when it slammed into the ground. The crash site is around nine miles from President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago residence.
In a statement, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed that the plane crashed in a residential area near Cresthaven, Florida, at around 12:50 p.m. local time on Sunday. The aircraft was a Learjet 60.
The FAA said the aircraft had departed Austin-Bergstrom International Airport in Texas and was headed to North Eleuthera Airport in the Bahamas.
The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) will investigate the crash. The FAA said the NTSB will be in charge of the investigation and will provide all updates.
Video shared on social media showed the aircraft dropping rapidly before an explosion sent smoke and flames into the air.
Emergency crews shut down Military Trail between Cresthaven Boulevard and 10th Avenue North, warning the public to avoid the area.
Palm Beach County Fire Rescue wrote on X: "Aircraft Incident. Avoid the area. This will be an extended incident."
The incident was described as a developing story; the available material gave no information about the condition of the nine people on board.
