The US Navy warship USS Warrior has arrived at Chattogram port to take part in 'CARAT-2026', a five-day joint training exercise between the Bangladesh Navy and the United States Navy.

On Sunday (November 1) at around 2:30 pm, the ship prepared to berth at the jetty of the New Mooring Container Terminal (NCT) at Chattogram port.

Earlier, when it reached the entrance of the port, the ship was welcomed with a band performance in accordance with military tradition. When the ship berthed, senior officers of the Bangladesh Navy's Chattogram naval region welcomed the visiting delegation.

The 68-metre-long warship is commanded by Lieutenant Commander Mary Senonited, who has arrived in Chattogram leading a delegation.

The CARAT-2026 exercise is scheduled to begin on Monday (November 2) at the School of Maritime in Chattogram. During the five-day exercise, emphasis will be placed on exchanging professional knowledge and experience between the two countries' naval personnel and on increasing skills to meet security challenges at sea.

The main aim of the exercise, jointly organised by the Bangladesh and US navies, is to ensure maritime security and to increase the capability of both countries' naval personnel in conducting joint operations.

The Navy says such joint training exercises will help strengthen mutual trust, coordination and cooperation between the two navies, and will also help ensure the security of sea routes and increase the professional skills of naval personnel.

The exercise is scheduled to end on November 5. After it concludes, the US Navy warship will leave Bangladesh.
