Bellingham's 50th Goal Powers Real Madrid to Fifth Straight Win Over Santander

Staff Reporter

After beating Barcelona in El Clasico, Real Madrid recorded a commanding win over Racing Santander. Jude Bellingham played a major role, reaching his 50th goal in a Real shirt in this match, while Kylian Mbappe also shone.

Mbappe put Real ahead from the penalty spot in the 11th minute. Matteo Prati fouled him inside the box, and the French forward converted the penalty.

Ten minutes later Bellingham doubled the lead. The English midfielder carried the ball from midfield, broke through the opposing defence alone and lifted it over the advancing goalkeeper to complete his 50th goal.

Before half-time, record signing Yan Diomande scored Real's third, volleying in after a corner was not fully cleared by the defence.

Real's attacking edge did not fade in the second half. In the 59th minute Mbappe tried a curling shot from outside the box, but it struck the post and came back.

Late in the match Bellingham put the ball in the net once more, but the goal was ruled out for offside.

The hosts appealed for a penalty late on, but after a VAR review the referee changed the decision — although the ball had struck Aurelien Tchouameni's hand, it had deflected off his boot first, so it was judged an unintentional handball.

With this goal Bellingham completed 50 goals for Real Madrid across all competitions. He joined Real from Borussia Dortmund in 2023 at just 19 years of age for 88.5 million pounds.

So far he has scored 50 goals in 154 matches for the club and has also set up 37 goals for teammates.

The win kept Real Madrid on a run of five straight victories across all competitions, and it also cut the gap to La Liga leaders and arch-rivals Barcelona, who are now only three points ahead of the Madrid club.
