Fearing a new war with Iran, Israel puts air force and air defences on highest alert

Staff Reporter

Israel is on high alert over fears of a new war with Iran. On Monday morning (2 November), the Israeli outlet Walla reported that, with the possibility that war could begin at any moment in mind, the Israeli government has placed its air force, air defence systems and military intelligence branch on the highest level of alert.

Walla also reported that the United States and Israel have agreed that if President Donald Trump sets a date and time for an attack on Iran, Israel will be informed in advance, so it can prepare to protect itself against an Iranian counter-attack. The outlet described such a commitment between Israel and the United States as unprecedented.

The US midterm elections will be held tomorrow. Fears are growing that a new attack on Iran will begin immediately after the elections end.

A day earlier, another Israeli outlet, the Jerusalem Post, had reported that Israel would join an attack against Iran if the United States requested it.

The report also said that over the past few weeks, ten US military transport aircraft have landed at Israel's Nevatim and Ovda bases. Alongside this, additional air defence systems and missile interceptors have been deployed in Israel.

Last Saturday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke by phone with US President Donald Trump. During the call, he pressed Trump to attack Iran right after the midterm elections.
