Without a RUCSU election, terror and seat trading will return to campuses, former GS Ammar warns

Salahuddin Ammar, former general secretary (GS) of the Rajshahi University Central Students' Union (RUCSU), has said that if student union elections are not held, terrorist activities, occupation and seat trading, along with the various irregularities of the past, will return to the campuses.
He made the remarks at a press conference held at Rajshahi University's Poribohon Market at 4:30pm on Sunday (1 November). The press conference was organised to demand a quick RUCSU election.
Salahuddin Ammar said: "Not only RUCSU — student union elections at universities across the country are again heading towards deadlock. The picture at the JUCSU election commission office is one example. There, even the chairs and tables of the election commission office are being removed to make room for the offices of the university journalists' and teachers' associations. We do not want to see such a wretched state of the student unions."
He said: "If preparations for RUCSU are not taken by 10 November, we will soon take a hard line. I have no banner or political organisation of my own. So, in continuation of the nine-point demands we worked on, I am returning to the 'RU Reform Movement' platform again."
Ammar added: "Students from various political circles are saying this RUCSU has failed. We want you to demand a successful RUCSU from your own positions. Win it, and let there be a successful RUCSU from your side."
