BNP Leader Mostak's Membership Suspended in Taltali on Discipline Charges

The primary membership of Mia Mostafizur Rahman Mostak, former member secretary of Taltali upazila BNP in Barguna, has been suspended. He has been accused of violating party discipline and making obscene comments against district leaders.
His primary membership was suspended in a letter signed on 29 October by Barguna district BNP convener Nazrul Islam Molla and member secretary S M Humayun Hasan Shahin. When the letter spread on social media on Monday (2 November), anger was seen among a section of upazila BNP, grassroots leaders and activists, and Mostak's supporters.
At a discussion meeting on Khaleda Zia's 82nd birth anniversary on 15 August, Mostak allegedly made derogatory remarks against Barguna district BNP convener and district council administrator Nazrul Islam Molla, accusing him of nurturing the Awami League, according to the allegation.
When Mostak's remarks spread on social media, two groups of Taltali upazila BNP became involved in an open dispute. A section of upazila BNP, Jubo Dal, Sramik Dal and Chhatra Dal took position in favour of Mostak. On the other side, a section of upazila BNP, Jubo Dal and Chhatra Dal took position in favour of Nazrul Islam Molla, led by former Taltali upazila BNP convener Shahidul Haque and senior joint convener Mahbubul Alam Mamun.
Anger and tension spread among party leaders and activists over the incident. Centring on the incident, Barguna district BNP issued a show-cause notice to Mostak. An inquiry committee was later formed.
Based on that committee's report, Mostak's primary membership was suspended on discipline charges in the letter signed by the district BNP convener and member secretary on 29 October.
Mostafizur Rahman Mostak said district BNP convener Nazrul Islam Molla and member secretary S M Humayun Hasan Shahin have been carrying out extortion, terrorist activities and Awami League rehabilitation in Taltali. He claimed he was unfairly noticed for protesting against that. He said he had replied to the notice, yet his primary party post was suspended. He also said he had not received the suspension letter and had seen it on social media.
Barguna district BNP member secretary S M Humayun Hasan Shahin said Mostafizur Rahman Mostak was given a show-cause notice but he did not reply to it. An inquiry committee was then formed, and his primary party membership was suspended after the committee's inquiry proved the truth of the allegations.
