Australia star all-rounder Glenn Maxwell announces retirement from international cricket
Australian star all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has announced his retirement from international cricket. The announcement brings to an end his long and colourful international career in the Australian jersey.
Maxwell played for Australia in all three formats during his career. His performances in limited-overs cricket drew the most attention, and his destructive batting in one-day internationals and Twenty20 matches in particular built him a distinct reputation in world cricket.
In Test cricket, Maxwell scored 339 runs in seven matches for Australia. He played his last Test in 2017.
The all-rounder had announced his retirement from one-day cricket after the 2025 Champions Trophy. In the 50-over format he scored 3,990 runs for Australia.
In February this year, a match against Oman also brought his Twenty20 international career to a close.
Maxwell left his mark in all three formats and made an important contribution to Australian cricket. His departure from the international game closes a colourful chapter for the Australian team, the report said.
