Eight books published under RAKSU initiative at Rajshahi University, including three manuscript-award titles

Eight books have been published and edited under an initiative of the debate and literature department of the Rajshahi University Central Students' Union (RAKSU). The department said the publications were brought out to encourage literary practice at the university, preserve history and inspire new writers.
The eight books comprise three RAKSU literary journals, one special essay memorial volume, three books that won the RAKSU manuscript award, and one hall-based publication.
The three literary journals are the Biplobi Hadi issue, a story issue on the July mass uprising, and a memoir issue. In addition, the special essay memorial volume 'Jagoron' was published to mark the Nazrul year celebrations.
The three manuscript-award books are 'Je Rokto Agun Jaliyechhe', 'Bidrohi Rode Veja Ghas' and 'Pulu Mama The Great'. The hall-based publication is 'Sohrawardy Dorpon'.
Sources in RAKSU's debate and literature department said that since taking office, the department has worked to build a sustainable and long-term institutional foundation for debate and literature at the university.
As part of that effort, it has organised patronage and receptions for debaters, a debate festival, national-level competitions, discussions, seminars, reading circles and a standard pronunciation course.
The department also said it provided financial support for publishing magazines in various residential halls.
On the publications, RAKSU debate and literature secretary Imran Laskar said, "The July mass uprising is an important revolutionary chapter of student-people in Bangladesh's national history. The special initiative of the RAKSU literary journal was taken from a responsibility to enrich nationally the aspiration for change created through that uprising."
He added, "I am hopeful these publications will play a role in preserving and practising national history and will also enrich Bangla literature."
