Dano Lactose-Reduced Milk to Be Sold at Dhaka Pharmacies Under Arla and Pharma Solutions Deal
Arla Foods Bangladesh has signed an agreement with pharmaceutical and healthcare products supplier Pharma Solutions Bangladesh Limited to make Dano Lacto Reduced filled milk powder more widely available to consumers.
Under the deal, the product will now be available at various pharmacies in Dhaka. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the two companies recently for this purpose.
Under the agreement, Pharma Solutions Bangladesh will act as the sole distributor of Lacto Reduced at pharmacies in Dhaka. The product will be supplied to other parts of the country in phases.
Present at the MoU signing were Arla Foods Bangladesh managing director Laurent Ponty, head of sales Maher-e-Khoda and head of marketing, corporate affairs and sustainability Anwarul Amin. From Pharma Solutions Bangladesh were its chairman Ekram Hossain, chief executive officer Pallab Chakraborty and head of marketing and sales Ashok Kumar Chakraborty, along with other officials.
Many people cannot digest lactose, the sugar found in milk. Drinking regular milk can sometimes cause problems such as bloating, gas or stomach discomfort. Dano Lacto Reduced filled milk powder has been made with such consumers in mind.
According to Arla Foods Bangladesh, regular filled milk powder contains about 36 percent lactose. In Dano Lacto Reduced filled milk powder, that has been brought down to about 3 percent, while all of milk's nutritional value has been kept intact. It contains essential nutrients such as protein, vitamin A and vitamin D3. Lacto Reduced is Bangladesh's first lactose-reduced filled milk powder.
On the new partnership, Arla Foods Bangladesh managing director Laurent Ponty said: 'Our goal is that consumers do not stay away from essential dairy nutrition because of digestive discomfort. Supply through pharmacies will make Dano Lacto Reduced more accessible to those looking for a comparatively easy-to-digest and nutritious milk alternative.'
Pharma Solutions Bangladesh chairman Ekram Hossain said the company's healthcare product distribution network would be used to take the product to consumers across Dhaka, and distribution would later be expanded to other parts of the country.
When people have trouble digesting lactose, many reduce or avoid milk and dairy foods. This lower-lactose milk can be an alternative for them.
