US President Donald Trump has said there is no plan for now to launch fresh attacks on Iran. He made the comment in a telephone interview on Tuesday.

Trump said the objectives with which the United States started the war in Iran have already been achieved. That is why there is no longer a plan to attack.

In the six-minute interview with the Financial Times, Trump said, 'It looks like we got everything we wanted.'

In recent weeks he had hinted that a new military operation in Iran could begin after the US midterm elections. But when journalists in Washington asked him about it on the day before the election, he said 'no'. The same day, he said a settlement with Iran was possible.

Talks to end the Iran war are also under way. On Sunday, Iranian representatives held talks in Doha for a third straight day under Qatari mediation. Qatari mediators have prepared a draft agreement to create a path to a settlement between the United States and Iran, according to the news outlet Axios.

Trump's vice president, JD Vance, said there have been several rounds of good talks with Iran. He and Trump are optimistic about the possibility of reaching a settlement. But the United States' main condition is that Iran must in no way build a nuclear weapon. Trump has also said he will remain firm on that condition.

One camp wants the crisis resolved through a diplomatic settlement. Their argument is that starting the war again may not improve the situation. On the other hand, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth favour resuming military operations. In their view, Iran cannot be trusted.

Another camp favours continuing economic pressure on Iran. Their belief is that if Iran stays under economic pressure for a long time, it will be forced to make further concessions.

Rising fuel prices because of the war have created discontent among US voters. The conflict with Iran has also affected domestic politics in the United States. In this situation, Trump is under pressure to bring the conflict to an end.
