Iran cannot directly play any role in ensuring the security of fuel transport to Bangladesh or any other country, Iranian Ambassador to Dhaka Dr Jalil Rahimi Jahanabadi has said.

He made the remarks at a press conference held at the Iranian embassy in Dhaka on Tuesday night.

The ambassador also claimed that Iran has no connection with the attacks taking place in the Strait of Hormuz.

Jalil Rahimi commented that to the United States and Israel, compromise means surrender. He said, 'Iran will not accept surrender in the name of compromise.'

He also mentioned that there is a risk of a nuclear attack in a third round of conflict. The ambassador warned that Iran would retaliate if such an attack takes place.

Meanwhile, he believes that even if President Donald Trump's party loses the US midterm elections, there will be no change in the country's policy on Iran. Whatever the election result, Jalil Rahimi thinks the US position on Iran will remain the same.

Expressing satisfaction with the stance of the people of Bangladesh on the Iran issue, the ambassador said that despite various limitations, the Bangladesh government's position on this matter is logical.

He also commented that Iran would never have attacked Arab countries if there were no US military bases in those countries.
