Aer Lingus Flight to Rome Diverted to French Military Base After Bomb Alert

An Aer Lingus flight from Dublin to Rome has been diverted to a major military base in Evreux in France after a bomb alert, the French prime minister’s office said.
The flight, EIN40G, is operated by an Airbus A320. The prime minister’s office said the government was monitoring the situation closely.
The plane crossed the English Channel on a normal flight path to Rome before veering south-west of Paris and circling Chartres airport and diverting towards Evreux.
According to Flightradar24, one of the largest flight tracker websites in the world, the plane appears to have touched down in Evreux.
The incident comes just two days after seven planes across Europe were searched or diverted after a series of malicious hoax bomb alerts.
The alarms affected flights operated by LOT Polish Airlines, SAS, WizzAir and Ryanair. Two of the flights also involved Rome Fiumicino airport.
The broader false bomb alarms in the country also affected 280 schools. Flightradar24 also said at the time that no aircraft had departed from Rome Fiumicino Airport in the past 30 minutes.
