Kane signs new Bayern deal to become Europe's highest-paid footballer
German club Bayern Munich have extended the contract of England captain Harry Kane. The Bavarians completed the renewal with six months still remaining on his previous deal. The Bundesliga's record champions officially confirmed the signing on Thursday.
Under the new contract, the 33-year-old striker will stay at Bayern until 30 June 2029. The deal makes him the highest-paid player in European club football.
The club did not officially disclose the financial figures. International media reports, however, say Kane will earn more than 31 million euros a year excluding bonuses, equivalent to about 434 crore 34 lakh taka. His previous annual salary at the club was 25 million euros, about 350 crore 38 lakh taka. The rise takes him to the top of the earnings list among players across all of Europe's leagues.
Harry Kane left his former club Tottenham Hotspur to join Bayern Munich in 2023 in search of team trophies. Since arriving in Germany he has maintained a prolific scoring run, netting 156 goals in 161 matches for the club so far.
In a Bayern shirt he has already won two Bundesliga titles, one German Cup and two Super Cups. Last week he won the Ballon d'Or as the fifth English footballer to do so.
Harry Kane expressed his delight at committing to Bayern for the long term. After signing, he said Bayern Munich now feels like home to him. Mentioning his love for the club, its supporters and the city of Munich, he said his family is also living happily in the city. Winning many more major trophies with the club in the days ahead is his main goal, the forward said.
