Trevor Lee Faces IWGP Champion Yota Tsuji in Non-Title SuperFight Clash in Chicago

Major League Wrestling star Trevor Lee will step into the ring with IWGP heavyweight champion Yota Tsuji at Saturday Night SuperFight in Chicago this weekend. Lee was the one who called out Tsuji for the match at one of MLW's biggest shows of the year.
Lee officially signed with MLW seven months ago. Since then he has gone toe-to-toe with Kushida, Austin Aries and Mistico, while also holding the MLW Southern Crown Championship.
Tsuji is a superstar with New Japan Pro-Wrestling. He is a two-time IWGP heavyweight champion, a two-time IWGP global heavyweight champion, and has held the IWGP Intercontinental Championship and the NEVER Openweight 6-Man Tag Team Championship once each.
Saturday night's match is a non-title fight, but if Lee pins Tsuji he may put himself among the contenders for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship. Tsuji already has other wrestlers gunning for his title, most recently Boltin Oleg and Kenny Omega.
Lee said he is looking at the match like a job interview. He said that over the past few months he has had the capability to show what he can do, and that Saturday's match against Tsuji is an even bigger opportunity.
"Yota is the top of the top at New Japan," Lee said. "If he's gonna come over here and he's gonna ask for a fight, then I'm looking for an opportunity." He said he wants to show that he is ready for that opportunity.
Asked whether he has thought about wrestling for New Japan, Lee said, "One-hundred percent. I'd love to wrestle for New Japan. I've never wrestled for New Japan. I've never had the opportunity to even go to Japan and wrestle in Japan."
Lee vs. Tsuji is one of seven matches on the Saturday Night SuperFight card, which will also feature MLW world heavyweight champion Killer Kross going up against Josh Bishop in a last man standing match for the title.
Lee predicted that the Chicago crowd will be "rocking." The show can be seen at home on Veeps, starting at 8 p.m. ET.
