Zero Passes in HSC: Dhaka Board Show-Causes 26 Colleges, Summons Principals on November 10 with Five Years of Records
The Dhaka Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education has issued show-cause notices to 26 educational institutions after none of their students passed the 2026 Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examination.
The notices, signed by the board's college inspector (additional charge) Kudrat-e-Khuda, were sent to the principals of the colleges concerned on Thursday (November 5).
The notices say the institutions must give a written and clear explanation of why action should not be taken against them under the rules, since no student of theirs passed the 2026 HSC examination.
For this, the principals of the colleges concerned have been told to appear in person at an emergency meeting in the education board's meeting room at 10am on Tuesday (November 10) and explain the reasons for the zero pass rate.
The institutions have also been told to bring with them the necessary documents of their administrative and academic activities of the last five years when attending the meeting.
Earlier, the results of the 2026 HSC and equivalent examinations were published on Saturday (October 31). Across 11 education boards, the average pass rate this year is 52.12 percent. Of a total of 1,240,798 candidates, 646,685 passed.
This year 40,084 students obtained GPA-5. Last year the number was 69,097. By that count, the number of GPA-5 achievers has fallen by 29,013 this year.
