Tahsif Sauri death: Girlfriend Disha sent to jail after giving 'important information' in two rounds of remand

Jerika Tasnim Disha, girlfriend of former air force officer Tahsif Sauri, has given new information during interrogation in the case over his death. Investigating officers told the court she gave important information in questioning; after her remand ended she was sent to jail.
The case's investigating officer, Inspector Firoz Uddin of the Tongi naval police outpost, produced Disha in court on Friday (6 November) after two rounds of remand and applied to keep her detained in jail. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Aminul Islam Junaid ordered her to be sent to jail.
Sub-Inspector Saiful Islam of the prosecution department confirmed the matter, saying: "There was no bail application on behalf of the accused."
The application to keep her in jail said Disha was questioned extensively, using various techniques, to uncover the central mystery of the incident.
In interrogation Disha said that before the incident, on the night of 27 October, she went with Tahsif Sauri to the 'Nest Bar and Restaurant' in Uttara. Earlier that evening they ate 'CP Five Star Snacks' several times. Tahsif and Disha went together to a motorcycle garage; Disha said she was with Tahsif at the Nest Bar and Restaurant and rode around with him on a bike at various places.
The investigating officer also said in the application that the suspect Disha gave several important pieces of information about the incident, which are being kept secret in the interest of the investigation and are being verified. In the same application he said: "As the accused is very cunning by nature, she skilfully evaded answers to several questions and remained silent."
Another suspect in the investigation, Ahmed Shahriar Reza Deep, is currently on remand in police custody. The statements of Disha and Deep were cross-checked. A review of Tahsif's mobile call list also produced evidence of multiple conversations with Disha.
According to the investigating officer's application, the preliminary investigation has found evidence of Disha's involvement in the incident and the investigation against her will continue. She needs to be kept in jail until the investigation ends; if released on bail she could flee and hamper the investigation. The application also said the accused involved in the incident may need to be questioned again on police remand for a fair investigation.
After her arrest from the Kafrul area last Saturday, the court placed Disha on four days' remand in the first round on Sunday and on three more days in the second round last Wednesday. Deep was placed on four days' remand last Saturday, then three days last Tuesday and a further three days last Thursday.
Tahsif Sauri's floating body was recovered by the naval police from the Rajabari Ghat area of the Turag on the afternoon of 28 October. On the evening of 27 October he had gone downstairs from his home 'at Deep's call' and left home with his own bike.
