Summit terminal resumes gas supply to national grid after four days of maintenance
Maintenance work at the Summit LNG terminal in Maheshkhali, Cox's Bazar, has been completed. After being shut for nearly four days, the terminal resumed supplying gas to the national grid from Saturday (November 7) noon.
With this, gas supply from both floating terminals in Maheshkhali has returned to normal.
Petrobangla shared the information in a press release on Saturday (November 7).
The release said that, with the maintenance work at the Summit LNG terminal complete, imported liquefied natural gas (LNG) is again being converted into gas and supplied to the national grid. Petrobangla thanked consumers for their cooperation during this period.
Earlier, it had been announced that the LNG regasification work at Summit's terminal would remain suspended from 8 am on November 4 to 4 pm on November 7 for regular maintenance.
At that time, Petrobangla had said that gas supply to the national grid could fall because of the maintenance. The agency had forecast that daily supply could drop from 2,570 million cubic feet to 2,250 million cubic feet.
Meanwhile, Petrobangla had described as a rumour the information circulating on social media that gas supply across the country would remain shut for four consecutive days because of the maintenance. The agency said gas supply would not stop completely, though pressure could be temporarily low in some areas.
It is worth noting that there are two floating terminals in Maheshkhali for supplying imported LNG to the national grid. One is operated by Summit Group and the other by the US-based Excelerate Energy.
Summit's terminal has a daily gas supply capacity of 500 million cubic feet. Excelerate Energy's capacity, on the other hand, is 600 million cubic feet.
Similar maintenance work was also carried out at Summit's terminal in December 2025.
With Summit's supply resuming from Saturday noon, gas is now flowing normally to the national grid from both floating terminals in Maheshkhali. Petrobangla said it is grateful to consumers for their cooperation during the maintenance period.
