Amitabh Bachchan was once taunted by girl students at Miranda House

Staff Reporter

Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan has shared a little-known chapter from his life. The man once known in the industry as the 'angry young man' was himself once harassed by a group of college girls.

He shared what had happened on a recent episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC). Actress Madhuri Dixit was present in that episode.

Recalling the experience of being eve-teased by college girls, Amitabh said the incident taught him exactly how a woman feels when she faces such taunts on the street.

Speaking in a fairly serious tone on the KBC stage, Amitabh Bachchan brought up those old days. He said, 'I want to tell you something serious... the first day we entered Miranda House, all the girls sitting on the hostel balcony said together — Aaye haaye kya chalan!'

Amitabh added, 'It was then that I understood what happens in a woman's heart when this kind of eve-teasing happens to her. Because unless it happens to you, no one can understand it. After stepping into Miranda House, when I heard that, I just didn't know what to do...'

Hearing this, Madhuri Dixit laughed and curiously asked what they did next. In his characteristic humour, Amitabh replied, 'I ran away, what else could I do!'

The episode gained a different dimension as this unknown chapter from the life of an actor with a long career full of memorable roles came up on the KBC stage. The way he spoke made it clear that the incident at Miranda House is still etched in his memory.

His confession about eve-teasing carries both humour and a serious message. From his own experience, he explained what a woman feels in her heart when she is taunted on the street.
