Import-export suspended at Hili land port for National Revolution and Solidarity Day, passenger movement normal

Staff Reporter

Import-export and all internal activities at the Hili land port in Dinajpur remain suspended for one day on the occasion of National Revolution and Solidarity Day. However, even though port operations are suspended, the movement of passport-holding passengers between Bangladesh and India through the Hili immigration checkpost remains normal.

Shahinur Islam Mondol, general secretary of the Hili Customs C&F Agents Association, confirmed this on Saturday (November 7) morning.

He said that on Saturday, import of goods from India and export of goods from Bangladesh, along with all kinds of port activities, have been kept suspended for National Revolution and Solidarity Day. After the one-day break, import-export activities will resume in the normal way from Sunday.

On the other hand, Md Zakaria, officer-in-charge of the Hili Immigration Checkpost, said that although import-export at the land port is suspended, immigration activities are running. As a result, passport-holding passengers of both countries are travelling normally as before.

This one-day break applies only to the transport of goods and the port's internal activities; passenger services have not come under it.

Shahinur Islam Mondol said import-export activities will run normally again from Sunday.
