Situation normal in Gazipur industrial area as 70 arrested in 12 cases; no case filed over Toufiq’s death

Police have arrested 70 people in 12 cases filed over the workers’ movement. However, no case has been filed over the death of Toufiq.

After nearly a week of workers’ protests, road blockades and clashes, the situation in the Gazipur industrial area has become normal. Traffic on the highway is also normal.

Unrest had continued in the industrial area following the workers’ protests. Police have filed 12 cases over the protests, road blockades and clashes. So far, 70 people have been arrested in these cases.

But although Toufiq died in connection with the movement, no case has been filed over that incident.

A government holiday has been declared for Saturday (7 November).
