The Los Angeles Police Department said on Saturday that a man was arrested on Friday night at the Brentwood residence of LeBron James. He was arrested on suspicion of stalking.

According to TMZ Sports, security spotted the suspect at roughly 9 p.m. and called 911. Police arrived and took him into custody without incident.

The LAPD told OutKick that the suspect was booked on charges of felony stalking. He later claimed he believed he was James' son.

James was not in Los Angeles at the time. He was in Cleveland, where his team, the Philadelphia 76ers, faced his former team, the Cleveland Cavaliers, on Friday.

James is in his first season with the Philadelphia 76ers after spending the previous eight seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers. The Cavaliers selected him first overall in 2003, and he won a championship with them in 2016 during his second stint with the team.

James struggled at his former home on Friday, scoring just eight points on 3-for-12 shooting, including 0-for-4 from three-point range. Cleveland won 119-95 as James' Sixers fell to 8-2 on the season.

The NBA's all-time leading scorer is averaging 14.8 points, 7.4 assists and 6.9 rebounds per game this season.

A spokesperson for James did not offer a comment.

James has made another residence in New York and often commutes to and from Philadelphia via helicopter. Police have not disclosed the identity of the arrested man or what legal steps will follow.
