National Revolution and Solidarity Day observed at Bangladesh Embassy in Paris
The Bangladesh Embassy in Paris, the capital of France, observed 'National Revolution and Solidarity Day-2026' with due dignity and enthusiasm.
Leaders of the Bangladeshi community in France, representatives of various political and social organisations, journalists, and embassy officials and staff attended the programme, held on Saturday (November 7) on the embassy's own premises.
At the start of the programme, Bangladesh Ambassador to France Khandaker M. Talha hoisted the national flag of Bangladesh. The discussion session then began with a recitation from the Holy Quran.
Messages from the President and the Prime Minister on the occasion of the day were read out, and a documentary on the historical context of November 7 was screened. A special prayer and munajat were later held, highlighting the significance of the day.
In his speech as chief guest, Ambassador Khandaker M. Talha described November 7, 1975, as an important turning point in Bangladesh's national life. He said the united efforts of soldiers and the people that day protected the country's independence and sovereignty and laid a new foundation for national solidarity.
He recalled with respect the contribution of martyred President Ziaur Rahman in re-establishing multiparty democracy, the rule of law, and freedom of speech and of the press.
The ambassador said it is essential to maintain national unity to build a democratic, just, humane and safe Bangladesh under the motto 'Bangladesh first', learning from history. He praised the contribution of expatriates to the country's economy and their role in projecting a positive image of Bangladesh in France.
He called on expatriates to maintain mutual harmony and solidarity and work in the interest of the country. He also urged expatriate Bangladeshis to present Bangladesh's glorious and heroic history to future generations.
In the discussion session, community leaders and representatives of various political and social organisations highlighted the historical significance of the day and its importance in national life. Welcoming the initiative to observe the day at the state level after a long time, they thanked the government.
The speakers said the spirit of the soldiers-people unity of November 7 also inspires expatriate Bangladeshis to work unitedly for the welfare of the country, rising above party and opinion. They expressed the hope that the country's democratic progress would continue, that the rights and welfare of expatriates would be ensured, and that they would be involved more effectively in national development. A special munajat was offered praying for the country's peace, prosperity and continued progress, and the programme ended with refreshments for the invited guests.
