Bhutan-Sri Lanka draw sends Bangladesh into SAFF semi-final without playing

Bangladesh have reached the semi-final of the SAFF Championship without even taking the field, after the Bhutan-Sri Lanka match ended in a draw.
Bangladesh’s place in the SAFF Championship semi-final depended on the result of the Bhutan-Sri Lanka match. In Sunday’s contest between the two sides, neither team could come out on top.
The match ended in a 2-2 draw. That result confirmed Bangladesh’s semi-final place with a match still in hand.
The 2-2 draw between Bhutan and Sri Lanka opened the semi-final door for Bangladesh. Although Bangladesh did not play today, the result of the other match went in the team’s favour.
By confirming the semi-final with a match in hand, Bangladesh are now one of the last four teams in the SAFF Championship.
