A strange and dangerous incident unfolded during an English Premier League match. While Brentford were playing Liverpool, a young man kicked a rugby ball from the roof of a nearby tall building, and it flew into the stadium.

The incident happened on Saturday at the Gtech Community Stadium. The rugby ball, kicked directly from the roof of a home near the stadium, first landed on the roof of the East Stand before dropping inside the ground.

Fortunately, no spectator or footballer was injured in the incident. However, those involved believe a serious accident could have occurred had the ball, thrown from a height, struck someone.

After a video of the incident spread on social media, it caused a stir. Brentford Football Club then contacted the police, and a full investigation has begun.

In a stern statement, Brentford Football Club said it was aware of an incident during Saturday's match against Liverpool in which an object was kicked from a height towards the pitch. In the club's words, such behaviour is dangerous and could have had far worse consequences.

The statement added that the matter has been handed to the police. The club is cooperating with the relevant authorities in their investigation to identify those responsible and ensure appropriate action is taken. It also noted that a criminal case may follow.

Brentford stressed that the safety of fans, staff, players and officials on matchdays is of the utmost importance, and that the club supports every effort to ensure action is taken over this matter.

On the pitch, the two sides served up a lively contest. Keane Lewis-Potter's goal put hosts Brentford ahead first.

Victor Munoz later equalised for Liverpool. In the end, Alexander Isak's goal sealed a comeback victory for Liverpool.

Yet it is the rugby ball kicked from the rooftop, rather than the result, that has dominated discussion. Attention now turns to whether the investigation can identify the person responsible.
