Ailing Land Minister Mizanur Rahman Minu Brought to Dhaka for Advanced Treatment, to Be Admitted to Bangladesh Medical University
Land Minister Md Mizanur Rahman Minu, who fell ill and was under treatment at Rajshahi Medical College (Ramek) Hospital, has been sent to Dhaka for advanced treatment.
At about 8am on Thursday (22 October) he was taken by ambulance from the hospital to Shah Makhdum Airport in Rajshahi.
From there he was to be flown to Dhaka and admitted for treatment at Bangladesh Medical University (the PG Hospital), it was learned. Another report described the transfer as a move to BMU.
The land minister's APS, Nazmul Haque Dicken, confirmed the information. He said the minister had been feeling unwell for the past few days.
On Wednesday morning, when his physical condition deteriorated, he was admitted to Ramek Hospital, and doctors began his treatment.
As part of the treatment, the land minister was given three bags of blood, his APS said.
It was then decided to take him to Dhaka for advanced treatment. In line with that decision, he was set out for Dhaka from Rajshahi on Thursday morning.
The day before he fell ill, on Tuesday (20 October), Mizanur Rahman Minu had joined a public rally at Rajshahi's historic Madrasa ground. The next day, as his illness worsened, he was admitted to hospital.
The land minister had also travelled to Singapore for treatment on an earlier occasion, according to his APS.
The minister has asked the countrymen to pray for his recovery. In a Facebook post on Wednesday evening he wrote: 'I am ill. I ask the people of the country, including my beloved Rajshahi, to pray for my recovery, so that Almighty Allah grants me health and I can quickly recover and devote myself to serving the people.'
After his arrival in Dhaka, further information is awaited on his subsequent treatment and physical condition at Bangladesh Medical University.
