Dry Hair Can Regain Softness and Shine With Three Simple Regular Care Habits

Staff Reporter

Pollution, sun and dust gradually rob many people's hair of its natural softness and shine. Unhealthy eating habits and a lack of proper care make the same problem worse. Hairstyling, hair sprays and styling tools can also reduce the hair's moisture, leaving it rough, dry and lifeless.

Rough hair tangles more easily, and breakage increases as well. In such a situation, before any complicated treatment, the advice is to focus on regular care. A few simple habits, followed consistently, can make dryness much easier to manage.

The first technique is oil care. To reduce dryness, coconut oil or almond oil can be used. A little oil should be applied to the length and ends of the hair, left for a while, and then washed off with a mild shampoo. Using a conditioner suited to the hair type afterwards can help reduce tangles and keep hair comparatively soft.

Caution has also been advised when applying oil to the scalp. It is important to keep one's own skin type and tolerance in mind, because not every oil suits every scalp in the same way. If discomfort or a reaction appears, it is better not to continue that habit.

The second technique is a homemade hair mask. To reduce roughness, a mask can be made at home with banana and sour yogurt. A ripe banana should be mashed well and mixed with a little sour yogurt. The mixture is applied to the length of the hair, left for 15 to 20 minutes, and then washed off thoroughly.

While making the mask, the banana mixture should be smooth. A smooth mixture gets stuck in the hair less and is easier to wash out. Those with sensitive skin have been advised to test it on a small area before applying it to all of the hair.

The third technique concerns food and lifestyle. To keep hair healthy, outside care alone is not enough; attention must also go to diet. Protein-rich foods including eggs, fish, lentils, milk and nuts should be kept in the diet. Alongside that, building a habit of eating vegetables and fruit and drinking enough water is also important.

Reducing excessive heat on the hair has been advised as well. Frequent straightening and the use of products with harsh chemicals make it harder to retain the hair's moisture. This caution applies even more to those who use styling tools regularly.

According to general expert advice, following these habits regularly can make roughness and tangling easier to manage. But it has also been made clear that not every problem is solved by home care alone.

If there is excessive hair fall, itching of the scalp, or the hair's condition stays poor for a long time, one should consult a dermatologist instead of waiting at home. Such symptoms can sometimes point to a skin or other bodily problem as well.

Altogether, the message is simple — regular oil care, an occasional homemade mask and a nutritious diet: with these three combined, dry hair can gradually regain its lost softness and shine.
