Islamic University Honours 19 Students Recommended for Civil Judge Posts

Staff Reporter

Nineteen students of the Islamic University (IU) who were recommended in the 18th Judicial Service Commission examination for the post of civil judge have been honoured at a reception. The law faculty's success has created a festive mood across the campus.

The reception was organised by the Faculty of Law on Sunday (25 October) at the university's Birshrestha Hamidur Rahman Auditorium. Commemorative crests were presented to the recommended judges at the event.

The programme was presided over by Professor Dr Muhammad Nazimuddin, Dean of the Faculty of Law. Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr AKM Matinur Rahman attended as chief guest.

Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Emtaz Hossain, Treasurer Professor Dr Idris Ali and Professor Dr Atikur Rahman attended as special guests.

Also present were Law Department chair Professor Dr Halima Khatun, Law and Land Administration Department chair Associate Professor Anwarul Wahab, and Al-Fiqh and Law Department chair Professor Dr Altaf Hossain, along with teachers, students, officers and staff of the three departments.

In his speech as chief guest, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr AKM Matinur Rahman conveyed heartfelt congratulations from the university administration to the successful students. He said they have a responsibility towards the country.

The Vice-Chancellor said people of all classes have contributed to the education system, and duties must be performed with that in mind. Remembering that the Creator is above all, he urged the recommended candidates to carry out their responsibilities with conscience and judgement.

He also said the university administration is giving importance to increasing students' skills and employment opportunities. The activities of Job Corner-2 have already begun.

There is a plan to convert the entire second floor of the library into a job corner, so that students can prepare there to build their careers, the Vice-Chancellor added.

Those concerned see the recommendation of 19 students at once for civil judge posts as a major achievement for the university's legal education. Many also believe this success will inspire junior students in their preparation for judicial service examinations.
