Sakhipur Jubo Dal Leader Rubel Chowdhury Expelled After Facebook Post Demanding Home Minister’s Resignation

Rafiqul Bari, also known as Rubel Chowdhury, senior joint convener of the Sakhipur upazila unit of Jubo Dal in Tangail, has been expelled after posting on Facebook: “I feel hurt at heart, I want the home minister’s resignation.”
The information was announced on Sunday night in a press release signed by Minhajul Islam Bhuiyan, joint general secretary in charge of the office of Jubo Dal’s central executive committee.
The release said S M Rafiqul Bari, also known as Rubel Chowdhury, was expelled from primary membership and from all levels of party posts on clear charges of breaching party discipline by making discourteous comments on Facebook about the government and senior party leaders. Jubo Dal central executive committee president Abdul Monaem Munna and general secretary Mohammad Nurul Islam Noyon made the decision effective.
Earlier, on Friday (23 October), Rubel Chowdhury demanded the resignation of Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed in a post on his own Facebook account. He did not, however, state the reason for his hurt or anger in the post.
Asked about it later, Rubel Chowdhury told reporters: “There are many political issues. Many people are being harmed by the home minister’s wrong decisions. It is also harming our Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. The home minister thinks himself a great scholar. Although he does BNP politics, I believe he works as an agent of India’s RAW. That is why he should resign.”
He deleted the post from Facebook a day after posting it, but screenshots of the post spread through various channels.
Confirming the expulsion, Sakhipur upazila Jubo Dal convener Farhad Iqbal said Rubel Chowdhury had been warned repeatedly but did not correct himself.
