No Fertiliser Crisis in Country, Stock Stands at 13.5 Lakh Tonnes: Agriculture Minister Haji Aminur Rashid Yasin
Agriculture Minister Haji Aminur Rashid Yasin has said there was no fertiliser crisis in the country and there is no crisis at present either. The country now has an adequate stock of fertiliser, he said.
He made the remarks at a press conference on Monday noon (26 October) after a meeting of the standing committee on the agriculture ministry.
The agriculture minister said a dishonest circle had tried to create an artificial fertiliser crisis. But there was no benefit in that attempt, he said. At present, 13 lakh 50 thousand tonnes of fertiliser are in stock in the country, he said.
On the distribution of fertiliser dealerships, the minister said efforts were under way to ensure maximum transparency in giving dealerships. If any mismanagement is found within 90 days after a dealership is given, there is an opportunity to change it, and the matters are being kept under close observation, he said.
Noting that the list of import-dependent products is shrinking, the agriculture minister said there were some products since independence that had to be imported every year. But an exception has happened this year, and so far there has been no need to import them, he said.
