Container Prime Mover Tips Over at Chattogram's Cement Crossing After Master Pin Snaps, No One Injured

Staff Reporter

A container-carrying prime mover tipped over at the Cement Crossing intersection in Chattogram city after its master pin snapped. The incident happened at around 10:30pm on Monday (October 26).

The front cab of the vehicle was damaged, but no one was injured, it was learned.

According to eyewitness sources, the master pin of the prime mover's chassis broke while it was moving. The heavy part of the trailer, carrying a yellow MSC container, then tipped dangerously to one side.

At that time, the prime mover's front cab was also partially detached and damaged.

Eyewitness Saidur Rashid said the vehicle's container tipped over while it was moving. Fortunately, there was no vehicle beside it at the time, he said.

Local resident Imtiaz Hossain Tamal said this road is now a daily source of fear. He pointed to piles of garbage, a potholed road, rickshaws, motorcycles and vans travelling the wrong way, people walking on the road, lorry pressure, containers without chains or fastenings, reckless buses and dust. In his words, there is no one to look after it.

Local resident Abdul Habib said big accidents happen constantly from Kathgar to the crossing, yet the road is not repaired. He said residents want relief from this.
