Government services platform MyGov shut over PHP security flaw, update work to run until midnight on 27 October

The website of MyGov (mygov.bd), the government's central online platform for public services, has been kept shut to update the system and strengthen security because of a PHP security flaw. The website has been down since the night of Sunday 25 October. Repeated attempts to access it on Monday found it still inactive, showing a 'web server is down' message.
Fazlul Zahid Pavel, senior consultant (National Portal) at Aspire to Innovate (a2i) and cluster head of Digital Product Management-1, said MyGov is temporarily closed for work to ensure cyber security and update the system. He said the technology team is working to further strengthen the platform's security and carry out the necessary security updates.
He said work on the platform began on 22 October, and the website is currently kept closed for the final update and maintenance. The work will continue until midnight on 27 October.
Citizen services from various government offices are available online through MyGov. They include the e-Apostille service for attesting educational certificates and other government documents for students and citizens going abroad. Through this service, applications for document attestation can be made online from home, reducing the need to submit papers in person at the relevant office.
In addition, 440 services of various government ministries, divisions and local government institutions are connected to this platform. Applications for these services can be made through the MyGov website and app.
According to a2i sources, five to six thousand people take services from this platform every day. With the website closed, people coming to take those services are expected to face inconvenience.
