With the aim of attracting tourists from the Southeast Asian country, the 'Bangladesh Tourism Presentation' was held on Monday (26 October) at the Phoenix Hall of the Howard Johnson by Wyndham Hotel in Kuala Lumpur.

Organised at the initiative of the travel platform 'Travel Canvas', the event was supported overall by the Bangladesh High Commission in Kuala Lumpur, the Bangladesh Tourism Board (BTB) and the Bangladesh-Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BMCCI).

Bangladesh's High Commissioner to Malaysia, Manjurul Karim Khan Chowdhury, attended the event as chief guest.

Special guests included Bumiputera Travel and Tour Agents Association (BTTA) President Dr Wan Muhammad Adam Wan Noruddin, Malaysian Chinese Tourism Association (MCTA) President Patrick Law, Malaysian Indian Tour and Travel Association (MITA) Deputy President Bimala Devi Sinnadurai, and BMCCI Service Sector Development Standing Committee Chairman and Travel Canvas publisher Md Zahirul Islam Bhuiyan (Roman).

At the start of the event, the chief and special guests jointly unveiled Travel Canvas's special compilation 'Bangladesh – The World's Largest Delta: An Untold Story'.

A Travel Canvas documentary was screened at the time, and a special presentation was made on Bangladesh's tourist attractions, infrastructure and potential.

Detailed presentations were made on Bangladesh's natural beauty, historical and archaeological sites, rich cultural heritage, diverse tourist destinations, tasty food and warm hospitality. Similarities between Bangladesh and Malaysia in religion, culture and food habits were also highlighted as a promising aspect for attracting tourists.

A video statement by the chief executive officer of the Bangladesh Tourism Board was screened at the event.

A question-and-answer session was also held on increasing contact between the two countries' travel agents, tour operators and tourism-related organisations, taking joint initiatives, and expanding tourism packages and services.
