The Fazlul Haque Memorial Award was presented yesterday at 12 noon at the Channel i studio. This year's recipients are film journalist Mahmuda Chowdhury and director Mejbaur Rahman Sumon.
Culinary artist Keka Ferdousi presided over the ceremony, where journalist Abdur Rahman delivered the welcome address.
Film director Matin Rahman, Prokriti O Jibon Foundation chairman Mukit Majumdar Babu and producer Habibur Rahman Khan shared memories of Fazlul Haque at the event.
Actress and filmmaker Afsana Mimi, director Habibul Islam Habib, Ananda Alo editor Rezanur Rahman and Dhaka University Television, Film and Photography department chairman Saiyid Shahzada Al Karim, among others, also took part in the remembrance.
The late Fazlul Haque was the editor of 'Cinema', the country's first film magazine. He is also known as the maker of 'Son of Pakistan' (President), Bangladesh's first children's film.
The award has been given in Fazlul Haque's memory for 23 years. This year, continuing that tradition, the honour went to two people from two fields — film journalism and film direction.
