Power Outage Hits Chattogram: Bayezid, Oxygen, Muradpur and Bahaddarhat Without Electricity Since 11 AM

A power outage has struck Chattogram city and surrounding areas. Since 11 am on Tuesday (October 27), electricity supply has been cut in the city's Bayezid, Oxygen, Muradpur and Bahaddarhat areas, among others, as well as in nearby upazilas.

As of early afternoon, when this report was written, residents of these areas remained without power. With the supply cut, homes, businesses and various service activities have been disrupted.

Md Zahurul Islam, Member (Generation) of the Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB), said that although a major breakdown of the national grid was avoided, disruption in the power distribution system created the situation.

He said some areas of Dhaka, Sylhet and Chattogram experienced power outages. Generation units are being restarted one by one and reconnected to the national grid.

According to Md Zahurul Islam, power supply in Sylhet and fringe areas has largely returned to normal, and the situation in Chattogram is also expected to normalise shortly.

Residents of the affected areas have called for generation units to be restarted quickly and for the distribution system to be restored to normal.
