Staff Reporter

The Chattogram Development Authority (CDA) has conducted a drive against buildings constructed in violation of approved plans in Chattogram city. Parts of four buildings built in breach of their approved designs were demolished. Two of the buildings were sealed. The agency also warned two other buildings.

The drive was conducted on Monday (26 October) in the city's Khulshi and Chandgaon police station areas. Action was taken against six buildings in total, the CDA said in a press release.

The release said parts of buildings constructed in deviation from their approved plans were partially removed during the drive. Affidavits were taken from the building owners concerned, and they were warned to follow the rules in construction work.

The commercial establishment Basket was among the buildings that were warned, according to the release.

CDA Chairman Engineer Belayet Hossain said constructing buildings in violation of approved plans is a matter of concern for the city's planned development and safety. Building owners must carry out construction in line with the CDA-approved plan and the applicable rules.

He added that legal action against deviations from approved plans and construction irregularities would continue in order to ensure the city's planned development.

The drive was led by CDA Special Magistrate and Joint District and Sessions Judge Hamimun Tanzin and Authorized Officer-1 Kazi Kader Newaz. Officials and employees of the agency were present at the time.
