July Museum Launches Free Wheelchair Service for Visitors with Special Needs

The July Museum authority has launched a free wheelchair service to make visits easier for visitors with special needs. The service began on Tuesday morning, 27 October.
The authority said any physically disabled visitor or visitor with special needs who comes to the museum will now be able to use a wheelchair free of charge to move around.
Under the new arrangement, visitors can take the wheelchair service right from the museum entrance. If family members or relatives accompany the visitor, they can operate the wheelchair themselves and tour the whole museum.
If a visitor with special needs comes alone, trained museum volunteers will be engaged full-time to show them around the whole museum and provide the necessary assistance, the authority said.
Special attention has also been paid to ensuring the museum's infrastructure and exhibition rooms remain obstacle-free and smooth for wheelchair users.
Ehsan Mahmud, director general of the July Museum, said the museum is a place of memory and feeling for every citizen of this country. The special service was added so that no physical limitation stands in the way of anyone learning history and visiting the museum.
Ehsan Mahmud added that alongside relatives, volunteers will also be ready so that any visitor can tour the whole museum without any suffering. The aim, he said, is to build the July Museum as a fully inclusive and open institution for everyone.
The authority said wheelchair-friendly paths were built with visitors with special needs in mind when the museum's infrastructure was created. Physically disabled visitors or their families can receive the service immediately by contacting the museum's main gate.
