Bogura SI Ansar Ali Withdrawn Over Rape Allegation by Young Woman in Mokamtala

Sub-Inspector (SI) Ansar Ali, posted at the Mokamtala Police Investigation Centre in Bogura, has been accused by a young woman of raping her repeatedly after promising to marry her. Following the allegation, he was withdrawn on the orders of the Superintendent of Police and attached to the Police Lines.

Almas Ali, in-charge of the Mokamtala Police Investigation Centre, said SI Ansar Ali left his workplace on Monday night and joined the Police Lines.

According to the complaint, in November last year Ansar Ali went to the complainant's home to investigate a complaint filed against her husband. The young woman alleges that a close relationship developed between them afterwards.

The complaint further states that, at one stage, she was taken to different places and raped repeatedly on the promise of marriage.

She alleges that when she pressed him for marriage, Ansar Ali cut off contact with her. She then filed a written complaint with the Bogura Superintendent of Police on 8 October.

Rabiul Islam, Assistant Superintendent of Police of the Shibganj Circle and the investigating officer of the complaint, said the victim's statement was recorded last Saturday (24 October).

Rabiul Islam added that the young woman has offered to submit screenshots of conversations from different times and some videos. The preliminary investigation has found evidence of her visiting the Mokamtala Police Investigation Centre on multiple occasions.
